Interested in Applying?

Women attorneys selected for participation in the LEAD Academy will:

  • Be members of the State Bar of Texas;
  • Be members of the Bexar County Women’s Bar Association at the time of class selection;
  • Aspire to lead and have the demonstrated potential to become leaders;
  • Want to serve their communities and the profession and be committed to the promotion of women in the legal profession;
  • Attend all LEAD Academy sessions; and
  • Commit a year of service to the Bexar County Women’s Bar Association or Foundation after completing the LEAD Academy program.

The Steering Committee has found the LEAD Academy curriculum to be applicable to women attorneys at many stages of their careers, and anyone with interest is encouraged to apply.  The 2017 LEAD Academy class consisted of sixteen attorneys with two to fourteen years of practice.  The selection committee may determine that a larger or smaller class is appropriate, depending on the strength of applications received.

Interested attorneys may simply apply.  The selection committee will also accept nominations sent to Marissa Helm at marissahelm@gmail.com by October 20, 2017 and will notify nominees of their nomination.

A copy of application materials can be downloaded here.  Whether self-applying or nominated, completed application materials, including letters of recommendation, must be submitted by Monday, October 30, 2017. The 2018 LEAD Academy class will be announced by December 4, 2017.

The Bexar County Women’s Bar Foundation and the LEAD Academy Steering Committee sincerely appreciate your interest in the development and advancement of women in the legal profession.
