Ending the Cycle of Abuse
Sheriff Susan L. Pamerleau
Please join us as we welcome Bexar County Sheriff Susan L. Pamerleau. Sheriff Pamerleau will address the cycle of abuse many women find themselves trapped in the practical ways we can work to end that cycle. CLE approval pending.
Sheriff Pamerleau was elected to the position of Sheriff on November 6, 2012, becoming the first woman to be elected to the post. She began her 32-year career in the United States Air Force when fewer than one-percent of the Armed Forces were women, and rose to the rank of Major General. During her Air Force career she received numerous major awards and decorations, including the Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, and the Legion of Merit.
After her retirement from the Air Force, she also served in the highest levels of the corporate world, as Senior Vice President at USAA, a Fortune 150 company, and serves on the board of directors for Government Personnel Mutual Life Insurance Company.
Sheriff Pamerleau received her Masters degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. Phillips University conferred an honorary Doctorate degree on Pamerleau in 1998. She received her Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Wyoming.
